Why Women Should Live Alone Before Marriage – Teniola Aladese

Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese has shared her view that women should experience living on their own before getting married instead of moving straight from their parents’ home into their husband’s house.
Gkingmusik reports that Aladese spoke during a recent episode of the That’s What She Said vodcast, where she explained that independence before marriage helps women understand themselves better and prepare for life with a partner.
According to the actress, many women enter marriage without knowing what they truly like or what kind of behaviour they can handle.
She said this often leads to shock when they meet habits and manners from their husbands that they have never dealt with before.
Aladese noted that when a woman lives alone first, she learns more about her personality, her limits and the kind of treatment she can accept or reject.
She added that this self-knowledge helps reduce regrets that later show up in marriages.
She explained that women who skip this stage of independence may find married life confusing because everything feels new at once.
In her view, knowing oneself before marriage makes it easier to build a healthy home and avoid painful surprises.
She said: “A lot of women just go from their family’s houses to their husband’s house. But they don’t particularly know what they like, they don’t know what kind of trait their husband-to-be has. So they are shocked when they enter into the home and they see some mannerisms that they haven’t experienced before.
“But I feel like when you live alone before getting married, you get to know yourself, you get to know what you like, you get to know the nonsense you would take and the nonsense you would not take.”
