Brand influencer,
Priscilla Ojo-Mkambala, has spoken against a claim spreading on social media that she described postpartum depression as something unreal and linked to poverty.
Gkingmusik reports that the mother of one said the statement did not come from her and should not be attributed to her.
The allegation surfaced on January 30, 2026, after a screenshot circulated on 𝕏 (formerly Twitter).
The post alleged that the new mother said she did not go through postpartum depression and that the condition was connected to a person’s financial situation.
Priscilla responded in her Instagram story, denying ever making such a statement and challenging those sharing it to provide proof.
She made it clear that the message attributed to her was false and had been presented as her view.
She also described the claim as hurtful and disrespectful to mothers who have gone through postpartum depression, saying that linking such a condition to poverty was wrong and insensitive.
She wrote, “I never said this. What’s wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence!!.
“What do you mean, I said, ‘postpartum is an illusion caused by poverty’? Insulting to mothers, very insensitive.”
Postpartum depression is a medical mental health condition that affects some women after childbirth.
Health professionals explain that it can affect women from any background and is not determined by wealth or social class. In some cases, medical or emotional support may be needed.
Priscilla, who is the daughter of Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, welcomed her first child in 2025.
She has previously shared that she received strong support from her family after childbirth and has never stated that postpartum depression is fake or caused by a lack of money.
