
Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, has departed Johannesburg, South Africa, for Luanda, Angola, where he is expected to represent President Bola Tinubu at the AU–EU Summit.
His Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
Shettima had earlier attended the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg before heading to Angola for the 7th meeting between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU).
According to Nkwocha, the summit will run from Monday to Wednesday in the Angolan capital.
He stated that Shettima will join other Heads of State and Government for high-level engagements focused on strengthening partnerships between Africa and Europe.
The AU–EU meeting, Nkwocha noted, will also bring together young leaders, innovators, and civil society organisations to discuss shared challenges and propose actionable solutions.
The summit is expected to cover major global and regional issues, including:
Climate change
Inclusive development
Infrastructure
Digital economy
Creative industry
Manufacturing
Agribusiness
Nkwocha added that Vice-President Shettima would return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the summit.
He reaffirmed that the Tinubu administration remains committed to “deepening Nigeria’s partnerships and ensuring the nation’s voice is heard on global stages.”
