Premier League Results: Everton Stun Newcastle, Liverpool, Brentford Win, Others
Everton claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, February 28, while Liverpool F.C. thrashed West Ham United F.C. 5-2 and Brentford F.C. edged Burnley 4-3 in a thrilling round of Premier League fixtures.
At St James’ Park, Everton raced into the lead through Jarrad Branthwaite in the 19th minute before Beto added a second on 34 minutes. Newcastle responded with goals from Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy, the latter striking in the 82nd minute to make it 2-2.
However, Thomas Barry netted a minute later to hand Everton all three points. The result moves Everton up to eighth place on 40 points, while Newcastle drop to 12th on the Premier League table.
At Anfield, Liverpool delivered a commanding performance against West Ham. Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring after five minutes, with Virgil van Dijk doubling the advantage in the 24th minute. Alexis Mac Allister added a third before half-time.
West Ham reduced the deficit through Tomas Soucek and Valentin Castellanos in the second half, but Cody Gakpo restored Liverpool’s cushion and an own goal by Axel Disasi sealed the 5-2 win. Liverpool remain fifth on 48 points, while West Ham stay in the relegation zone.
Brentford secured a narrow 4-3 win away at Burnley. Mikkel Damsgaard struck early and added a stoppage-time goal to complete his brace. Thiago and Kevin Schade were also on target for the visitors. Burnley responded through Jacob Anthony and Zian Flemming, while an own goal by Michael Kayode added to the scoring. Brentford sit seventh, as Burnley remain 19th.
At the Vitality Stadium, AFC Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Sunderland A.F.C. Eliezer Mayenda gave Sunderland the lead in the 18th minute before Evanilson equalised for Bournemouth in the 64th minute.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. defeated Aston Villa F.C. 2-0. Joao Gomes scored in the 61st minute, and substitute Rodrigo Gomes added a late second. Despite the win, Wolves remain bottom of the Premier League table, while Villa stay third.
