Police Arrest Ozoro Community Head, Four Others Over ‘Raping Festival’
The Delta State Police Command has arrested five persons, including the community head and chief organiser of the sexual molestation of women during the annual festival in Ozoro community.
Gkingmusik reports that the arrests came hours after Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, ordered a full investigation of the viral videos showing groups of young men attacking women during the festival, forcefully tearing their clothes and subjecting them to various forms of molestation.
In an update on the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Bright Edafe, in a post on 𝕏, identified the community head and chief organiser of the event as Chief Omorede Sunday.
Edafe said the community head, alongside four other suspects from Oramudu quarters in Ozoro, have been arrested.
Edafe added that Adesola, had ordered their immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department, and vowed that those involved would be brought to justice.
He wrote, “The community head and chief organiser of the event, one chief Omorede Sunday and four other suspects from Oramudu quarters in Ozoro have been arrested. The CP has ordered that they should be transferred to the State CID with immediate effect. The CP vows that anyone involved will be arrested and brought to justice.”
