The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has expressed gratitude to eminent Nigerians and organisations who stood by her during her six-month suspension from the Senate.
Naija News reports that the lawmaker, whose office was sealed throughout the suspension period, resumed on Tuesday after the National Assembly’s Sergeant-at-Arms unsealed it.
Speaking with journalists in her office, Natasha singled out former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili, and several civil society leaders for their support.
Natasha said, “I thank people like aunty Oby Ezekwesili, sister Aisha, Mama Pee, Dr Abiola, Peter d Rock, Yemi of Enough is Enough, Femi Falana, and many others that I can’t even call.
“Atiku Abubakar, Saraki, many people who have lent their voices, and even political parties like the LP, ADC, I saw their statements, and my beloved PDP, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Labour Congress. I think that was the pressure that made the Senate President realise he just can’t keep me down.”
Natasha was suspended earlier this year for six months after her allegation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Her suspension sparked outrage across political and civil society circles, with many calling it excessive and undemocratic.
