Governor Fubara Mourns Rivers Senator
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has mourned the death of the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the Senate, Barinada Mpigi.
Gkingmusik reports that a source confirmed the lawmaker’s demise to Peoples Gazette on Thursday but surrounding the circumstances of his death were not immediately disclosed.
Similarly, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Works, Akin Alabi, also confirmed the sad development in a tribute post on his official 𝕏 handle on Thursday.
He wrote, “Good night my dear friend. Rest in Peace, Senator Mpigi Barinada. Sen Mpigi represented Rivers South East in the Senate”.
Fubara, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, described the late senator as a brother, a committed politician, and a prominent leader in Rivers State.
He said Mpigi’s death came at a time when his contributions were still greatly needed and prayed for God to grant him eternal rest.
Governor Fubara extended his condolences to the senator’s family, the people of Rivers South East, and members of the Senate.
He urged them to take comfort in the fact that the late lawmaker lived a meaningful life and made a positive impact.
Senator Mpigi died at the age of 64.
Until his death, the Senator served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.
