Frontline Anambra South Senatorial District aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Azuka Okwuosa, has lauded the Senate, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, for declaring the Anambra South Senatorial seat vacant and calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to organize a by-election without further delay.
Okwuosa described the Senate’s resolution as a bold and necessary move to ensure that the people of Anambra South are not left without representation in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. He emphasized that legislative representation is a fundamental pillar of democracy, and the prolonged vacancy of the senatorial seat has denied the district a crucial voice in national policymaking and governance.
While commending the Senate for following due process before making the declaration, Okwuosa urged INEC to act decisively and expedite the electoral process. He warned that any further delay in conducting the by-election would amount to disenfranchisement and a setback for democracy in Anambra South.
“The people of Anambra South deserve effective representation in the Senate. Any delay in filling this vacancy not only robs them of their democratic rights but also hampers development and progress in the district,” Okwuosa stated.
With political activities gaining momentum ahead of the anticipated by-election, stakeholders are now looking to INEC for swift action to ensure that Anambra South regains its rightful representation in the National Assembly.
