Anambra: Soludo Dissolves Cabinet, Directs Immediate Handover
The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has directed all political appointees to hand over their duties with immediate effect.
Gkingmusik reports that the directive comes barely 24 hours after Soludo took the oath of office for a second term.
The development, which signals the dissolution of the existing cabinet, was conveyed through an official circular issued on March 18, 2026, by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
According to the circular, affected appointees have been instructed to transfer their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or, in their absence, the most senior civil servants in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The government emphasised that the handover process must be concluded before the close of work on the same day, pending the constitution of a new cabinet.
“I am directed to inform all political appointees to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servant in the various MDAs on or before the close of work today… until a new cabinet is constituted,” the statement read.
In addition, the state government directed all members of the outgoing cabinet to attend a meeting with the governor.
The meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the ANSEC Chambers.
The circular conveying the directives was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Nwabufor Nwankwo.
The development marks the formal end of the first-term cabinet and the commencement of a new administrative phase under Soludo’s second tenure.
