Gkingmusiks reports that the Ministry of Health confirmed the closures and said 15 of the facilities have since reopened after meeting the required standards.

The action is part of the state’s plan to improve healthcare and ensure medical services meet high standards under Governor Charles Soludo’s administration.

Among the hospitals affected is the state-owned Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Amaku-Awka.

The Ministry of Health also shared updates on emergency medical services in the state.

Since the launch of the Anambra State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System in May 2023, the programme has expanded from 10 ambulances to over 60, covering all 21 local government areas.

The government has received plans from 588 additional emergency transport units, including 315 tricycle ambulances for rural areas and maternal health services.

Seven boat ambulances have also been deployed to serve riverine communities.

The state government said the expanded ambulance service ensures that residents in both urban and rural areas can access timely emergency care.

Health facilities across the state have been linked to the emergency system, improving patient referrals and reducing delays in care.
