Akpabio Summons Senators For Crucial Discussion On National Issues
The leadership of the Nigerian Senate has announced that Senators should reconvene for a plenary session on Tuesday, February 17.
The announcement was conveyed in an official notice to the Senators by the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Odo, which was made available to newsmen on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, the summons is based on the directive of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Odo noted that crucial decisions concerning national issues would be discussed during the session.
The statement read, “I am directed by the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to inform all distinguished senators that the Senate will reconvene plenary session as follows: Date: Tuesday, Feb. 17, by 11 a.m.
“Consequently, all distinguished senators are kindly requested to note and reschedule their engagements accordingly to enable them to attend, as very crucial decisions will be taken on national issues during the session.”
Gkingmusik reports that despite having earlier adjourned sitting till February 24, the Senate reconvened last week for an emergency plenary sitting on the controversy surrounding the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2026, particularly, the section that deals with the compulsory electronic transmission of election results.
