ICPC Searches Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s House

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday, carried out searches at the residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the media adviser to El-Rufai, Muyiwa Adekeye.
One of El-Rufai’s lawyers, Ubong Akpan, also condemned the search, describing it as “unlawful, and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights.”
It would be recalled that the ICPC confirmed that El-Rufai was taken into custody on Wednesday night for questioning after he was released on bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement signed by the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Communications, Mr. J. Okor Odey, the ICPC said El-Rufai remained with the commission as of the close of work on February 18, 2026.
The statement reads, “The Commission wishes to state that Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, is in our custody as at the close of work today, Wednesday, the 18th day of February, 2026.
“He is in the custody of the Commission in connection with ongoing investigations.”
While the agency did not disclose details of the investigation, it said further updates would be provided in line with its mandate and procedures.
“The Commission remains guided by the rule of law and assures the public that investigations are being conducted professionally and without prejudice,” the statement added.
