The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects linked to the violent attack on Fuji musician, Obesere, and members of his crew in Okitipupa, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
Obesere and his team were assaulted on Friday shortly after performing at a burial ceremony in the town, sparking outrage from fans and residents.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Soga Andrew Ogunsakin, condemned the attack, describing it as unacceptable.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Ogunsakin said he moved swiftly to ensure accountability and restore calm in the area.
He stated, “Upon receiving the report on the unfortunate incident involving Obesere, I immediately swung into action to ensure accountability and restore calm.”
The LG chairman confirmed the arrest of three suspects believed to be connected to the disturbance.
“I’m pleased to inform the public that three suspects connected to the disturbance have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals involved,” he said.
Ogunsakin also revealed that some of the musicians’ stolen belongings were recovered during the police operation.
“Some items said to have been stolen have also been successfully recovered,” he added.
The local government chairman further disclosed that he had reached out to Obesere’s management to arrange a meeting over the incident.
“I have contacted Obesere’s management for a scheduled meeting. This will help me express deep concern over the incident,” he said.
