The South-South Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and caretaker Chairman of the Bayelsa PDP, Hon. George Turnah, has faulted reports announcing his expulsion from the party, urging the public to disregard what he described as misinformation from a “social gathering in Ibadan.”
Turnah made his position known in a statement issued by his media assistant, Kelvin Egbo.
Describing the expulsion claim as a product of “political opportunists and mischief-makers,” Turnah insisted that no lawful national convention of the PDP has been held since 2022.
He said, “It is nothing more than a pitiful display of desperation from certain political opportunists and mischief-makers within the Party. Such claims hold no merit and can be dismissed as good radiance to bad rubbish.”
He emphasised that the last recognised PDP convention was the one conducted in 2022 to select the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 elections.
Turnah added, “The PDP’s Constitution clearly outlines offences and the corresponding disciplinary procedures, ensuring the right to a fair hearing as a prerequisite for any disciplinary action.”
Turnah declared that he remains a duly elected official and committed member of the PDP, dismissing any suggestion of suspension or removal.
He said his loyalty to the party’s national leader and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, remains “steadfast” and “unshakeable.”
