Popular Nigerian singer Asake has shared his views on how humility and ego are often perceived in the entertainment world.
Naija News reports that in a viral video on Tiktok, he told his friend that in the industry, being humble is usually seen as a weakness, while showing ego tends to make artists appear more attractive to fans.
The singer stressed that people do not pay much attention to the process behind an artiste’s work, instead, they are more concerned with the results that come out of it.
According to him, taking time to explain or show people how things are done is often not valued, as most audiences only respect the finished product.
Asake maintained that artistes are better appreciated when they carry themselves with a sense of pride that makes them seem less accessible, as this builds curiosity and admiration.
He added that the best approach is for artistes to stay focused, deliver results, and let their work speak for them.
He said: “As an artiste, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego they feel like you’re not accessible then they like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than showing them. They don’t really appreciate it. Do what you need to do and just go.”
