The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the scheduled congresses for Plateau and Cross River States.
The PDP, in a statement on Wednesday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said new dates would be fixed for the congresses, which were previously scheduled for Saturday, 27th September.
Naija News reports that the party added that the new date for the congresses, which were fixed to elect new State Executive Committees in Plateau and Cross River, would be announced in due course.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the postponement of State Congress for the purpose of electing new State Executive Committee of our Party in Plateau and Cross River States.
“Consequently, the State Congress in the two States earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, September 27th 2025 has been postponed to a new date which will be communicated in due course.
“The NWC urges all leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members of the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the media, security agencies and the general public to note the postponement and be guided accordingly,” Ologunagba said in the statement.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State chapter has dismissed claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara might defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party asserted that it is unfazed by the allegation, maintaining that the governor has every right to make any political decision that is in the interest of the people in the state.
The chairman of the Rivers State PDP, Robinson Ewor, stated this during an interview with Vanguard.
